The Month in Review for The B Spot Podcast

August was a month of quality interviews with respected college coaches offering unique insights into the game and their programs. The month began with Matt Tyner, Head Coach at Towson University, and author of the book, Fast and Hard: From Addiction to Redemption in S1:E35.

It was an honest, real discussion about life, love, addiction and baseball all wrapped up into a package that has value for every player. Here, Matt talks about one of the moments that changed the trajectory of his life. It was a conversation with Tony Vittorio, who was the Head Coach at Dayton University at the time.

The month continued with Pitching Coach, Dustin Glant from Indiana University. We took a trip with him to talk pitching and metrics along with discussion about what he finds valuable and necessary for players to know. With all of that conversation, Dustin came back to one simple fact. You have to throw the ball over the plate to get on the mound.

The month ended with Head Coach, Tracy Smith, of the University of Michigan stopping into The B Spot Podcast to talk about culture, parents, players and his most memorable moment as a college coach. He's been to coach some special players over his tenure, and here he talks about one of those players, currrent Philadelphia Phillies player Kyle Schwarber who is in the midst of an MVP type season.

Then Coach Smith surprised us here at The B Spot when he told us, we can select his Walkout song for the Spring of '26.
